Sankt Pauls: marketing analysis and brand identity development

A brand that expresses territory, history and cooperative spirit

About

Sankt Pauls is a historic South Tyrolean cooperative, a producer of Pinot Bianco in the oldest vineyard in the region, around the wine village of San Paolo. While keeping a strong bond with its history, it was ready to embrace a new image, a brand identity able to reflect and enhance its distinctive values.

At NSG we analysed every aspect of the brand, from vision to market positioning, to define a visual identity that respects its historical roots while conveying growth and innovation, harmoniously integrating the brand’s past and future.

Sankt Pauls: how can a brand with a long tradition evolve without losing its essence?

How can a brand with a long tradition evolve without losing its essence?

The analysis involved careful reflection on the core values that Sankt Pauls embodies as a brand, in order to identify the strengths to communicate. The winery positions itself as a custodian of tradition and craftsmanship thanks to its long winemaking history (since 1907), with a strong connection to the territory and an empathetic, welcoming personality: a human dimension that comes from the 185 winegrowing families who make up the cooperative.

On this basis, the positioning we identified highlights both the historical heritage and the “Alpine style” of the wines (the freshness and elegance of Pinot Bianco) produced with respect for the mountain environment, and the role of the winery as a connecting point and vital centre of the San Paolo community.

Condensing a brand into a simple but powerful design

The analysis process involved careful reflection on the core values that Sankt Pauls embodies as a brand, in order to identify the strengths to communicate.

The full name “Sankt Pauls” also gives a deeper link with the South Tyrolean territory, creating an authentic, recognisable and distinctive identity.

The brand’s tone of voice was also designed to reflect its values and identity and to reach users’ hearts directly: sincere, authentic, welcoming, refined yet accessible.
