Wine Label & Packaging Design for Nino Negri Castel Chiuro

The mountains, the rocks, the steep peaks of Valtellina: this is where the essence of Nino Negri lies. The unique climate of the terraced vineyards shapes complex, elegant wines with a pronounced aromatic distinctiveness. Castel Chiuro Valtellina Superiore DOCG Riserva 2011 is the result of a unique ageing: a long, patient evolution of over 10 years in the Nino Negri underground cellars, among wood, stones and bottles.

Evolving the dress created for the limited edition made for the winery’s 120th anniversary, the design communicates the extraordinary nature of the product with a clean layout, embellished with marbled paper and gold inserts.

To meet the need for a large print run, a digitised version was developed from the original edition, which was reproduced on paper hand-decorated by Florentine artisans, delivering the same uniqueness and inimitability.

Starting from a careful selection of patterns, the “mosaic” printing technique made it possible to reproduce the textures randomly and create sheets with unique variations. None of the 6,000 bottles of Castel Chiuro has the same marbled surface, a feature that makes each one, in effect, a one-of-a-kind piece.
